What is ZO Skin Health?

ZO Skin Health

Founded by dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi, ZO Skin Health is well known as a science-backed skincare brand. They use the latest research and active ingredients to tackle everything from hyperpigmentation to signs of ageing. The brand has a simple three-step “Get Skin Ready” philosophy that includes cleansing, exfoliating and toning — all of which work to take care of skin and keep it looking its best.

What is SkinCeuticals?

SkinCeuticals skincare products

SkinCeuticals is another brand that’s rooted in science-backed products and research. The brand began in the 90s as one of the first companies to work with doctors to offer products in their clinics. From then, SkinCeuticals has launched many groundbreaking products with the latest skincare science. SkinCeuticals also has a three-step philosophy — prevent, protect, correct — and products for a range of concerns.

Where can I buy them?

ZO Skin Health

ZO Skin Health products contain a high percentage of active ingredients — that’s what makes them so effective — but that does mean that they’re not available to simply buy over the counter in highstreet shops or online. Instead, to get your hands on ZO products you’ll need to go to an approved stockist. These include medispas, dermatologists, doctors, aesthetic practitioners or online skincare clinics, like us at Face Dr

While this can seem like more hassle, it’s actually a good thing. It means the products contain ingredients that can provide visible results. Plus, by speaking with an expert, you’ll ensure you’ll get the right product for your skin and concerns, saving you time and money in the long run.

SkinCeuticals

On the SkinCeuticals website or from authorised stockists like medispas, clinics, dermatologists and plastic surgeons. You don’t need to speak with an expert before buying these products, as they are all safe to use without first having a consultation with an expert. This is a benefit for convenience, although the results may take much longer to show as the concentration of quality ingredients will be lower, in order to sell online.

What’s the price?

ZO Skin Health

ZO Skin Health’s policy says stockists are not able to share prices online due to the prescriptive nature of the products. But you can create an account with Face Dr or sign up to our newsletter to find out more. Pop us an email to hello@myfacedr.com for prices.

SkinCeuticals

SkinCeuticals products start from around £28 for the sunscreen and range to around £160 for the anti-ageing face cream.

Should I choose ZO Skin Health or SkinCeuticals?

 Michelle Skin Expert

So now for the big question, which brand should you choose? When it comes to everyday skincare, both brands offer great products that are backed by science and loved by customers. If you have a specific skincare concern, it can be helpful to search on both brands’ websites to see if they make targeted products to help. For example, ZO Skincare Health has products to treat rosacea, whereas SkinCeuticals doesn’t.

If, however, you’re looking for the best products to target concerns like ageing or hyperpigmentation, or perhaps you’re looking for everyday cleansers and exfoliating products to upgrade the look and feel of your skin, it’s trickier to decide.

The biggest difference between the two brands is that ZO Skin Health can only be bought after having had a consultation either in-person or via video link with an approved Skin Expert or clinic. SkinCeuticals can be bought online and through their website. This is because ZO’s products contain higher concentrations of active skincare ingredients, and an expert must make sure that these are suitable for your skin and that you have guidance on how to use them properly.

This is when speaking with a skincare professional can help. Here at Face Dr, our skin experts have decades of experience working in the skincare industry. While SkinCeuticals certainly is a trustworthy brand, we often recommend ZO Skin Health to many of our clients, as we’ve seen the real results this brand can offer.

But of course, skincare is highly personal. Want to know if we’d make the same recommendation for you? Why not book a free online consultation with a member of our team. You can speak to a skin expert in a 30-minute video call who will analyse your skin. They can answer any questions, listen to any skincare concerns and then recommend the best brand for the job and even give you specific products to get the results you’re looking for.

We only ever recommend brands we know and trust and there’s never any obligation to make a purchase. Our experts are always on hand to help you navigate the world of skincare and build the ideal skincare routine for your skin.
