ZO Skin Health Sunscreens

What is the ZO Skin Health range?

ZO Skin Health is regularly recommended by our Skin Experts because of the fantastic results it has provided for our clients in the past. It was originally founded by dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi, and they continue to use the latest scientific research and high quality ingredients to create incredible products that care for a huge number of skin issues. Their new sun protection products are no exception, using the latest research to provide excellent protection against sun damage.
From the beginning they have pressed the importance of SPF for skin, even having it as part of their Fundamental Five products: a cleanser, exfoliant, toner, barrier repair product and SPF.

What is ZO Sheer Fluid Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50?

One of the latest additions to the ZO range is the ZO Sheer Fluid Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50. This science-backed mineral sunscreen has a natural, tinted finish and is suitable for all skin types, offering protection against environmental pollution and sun damage, as well as signs of ageing.

Formulated with ZO Skin Health’s Triple Spectrum Protection®, it helps to guard against the damaging effects of UVA, UVB, blue light and infrared-A rays, and boasts a fragrance-free formula that’s gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin.

The lightweight consistency is perfect for use on the face, and its time-release antioxidant complex means it continues to benefit skin throughout the day.

Who would benefit most from choosing this product?

While this product can suit many skin types, it is likely best for anyone who:

  • Prefers a more natural mineral sunscreen to minimise environmental impact
  • Has a history of skin damage and is looking for the best daily facial protection
  • Often goes for a ‘no makeup look’ and wants a lightweight daily SPF
  • Worries about the long-term signs of ageing
  • Needs a strong, highly effective SPF product to accompany their retinol routine

If you’re unsure whether this is the best product to protect your skin, our Skin Experts can chat to you in a free video consultation to find out what you need.

What is ZO Gel Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 50?

The second new product in the range is the ZO Gel Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 50, which is also formulated with ZO’s Triple Spectrum Protection® to guard against UVA, UVB, blue light and infrared-A rays, however this product offers a completely different consistency to ZO’s Sheer Fluid.

This clear, fragrance-free sun protection product is suitable for all skin types and tones, and is water and sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes. It is formulated with a range of antioxidants and plant stem cell complexes which help to hydrate skin and minimise the signs of premature skin ageing due to environmental stressors. It also leaves behind a smooth, even complexion.

Who would benefit most from choosing this product?

While this product can suit many skin types, it is likely best for anyone who:

  • Prefers the strong protection of a chemical sunscreen
  • Has a history of skin damage and is looking for the very best daily facial protection
  • Struggles to find products to suit their skin tone (the clear gel blends to all skin tones)
  • Worries about skin ageing and wants an SPF with added anti-ageing properties
  • Needs a strong, highly effective SPF product to accompany their retinol routine
  • Has a more active lifestyle and needs a water-resistant formula

Summary: Should I try either of these sun protection products?

If you are looking for an effective sunscreen product to add to your daily skincare routine, these two products could certainly offer the benefits you need.

You will likely find one more effective and enjoyable to use than the other, so it’s always best to book a free video call with one of our Skin Experts to discuss your skin history, skin goals, and any conditions you have or irritations you have noticed. They will then recommend the best SPF product for you — this could be one of the aforementioned products, or something else. We are not loyal to one product or brand, so we always advise our clients on the best products for their needs.
