What is an Online Skincare Consultation?
An online skincare consultation works in exactly the same way as one you would have in your local medispa or clinic, with one exception; it is conducted via video link. There are many companies and clinics now offering this service, some with only their skincare brand offered, some with many, many skincare brands on offer.

Our Skincare Consultations are all conducted via a secure video platform and can be accessed using your smartphone, PC or tablet. Only you and your chosen Skin Expert will be able to access the video call. We keep all your information confidential, just like any other in-clinic consultation.
Why is a Video Consultation the right option for me?
An online consultation is a fantastic way to meet with a skin expert without having to visit us in-clinic. There is no travel involved, and everything can be done virtually. You will be able to see and hear each other using a secure online video service. You may find it difficult to attend your appointments. Or maybe you are too far away from our Tay Medispa clinic in Perth, Scotland but may still wish to have a consultation with us? Video consulting makes this simple for you. It is also a great option if you’re not keen on walking into the clinic without your make-up on! Some people choose a virtual appointment so that they don’t need to leave their home, and they’re a great option to choose a time that suits you perfectly.
We initially begun offering this service due to the lockdown being in place. Our clients were asking how they could speak to their Tay Medispa Skin Expert and reorder their professional, cosmeceutical skincare products. What we didn't expect is that we would build an amazing client base from across the UK! This is how Face Dr was born. Our Skin Experts can continue to serve both our current clients and new ones and provide that professional, friendly service you we are renowned for.
How can I book my Skincare Consultation?
Simply use our online booking system to choose your Skin Expert and the type of consultation you require. If you are a brand new client, you may wish to choose a full free 30-minute consultation. We also offer shorter, quick consultations for clients who would like a quick review and these are also free of charge.
After you have booked your free consultation, we will send you a link to activate your Face Dr account. It is important that you click the link and set your password so you can access your consultation and view your product recommendations. We also send you a confirmation email explaining the time and date and also exactly how to join the video call. You can use your laptop with a mic and camera or an Apple or Android device to access your appointment. Your camera and microphone need to be enabled so your Skin Expert can clearly see your skin and be able to hear you properly.
How to prepare before your online skincare consultation
Check your internet connection
Before your online consultation, there are a few things that you should double-check before it starts. It’s important that you check that you have a good WIFI or 4/5G mobile internet connection so that the video call is clear and doesn’t lag or fail on you. Where to take your video call
Go somewhere quiet where you feel comfortable discussing your medical history, skincare routine and skin concerns. This could be in a quiet room at home, or even out in the garden if you wish! The place is perfect if you won’t be disturbed and feel happy to talk about your skincare in peace. Try to avoid somewhere that will be too noisy so that your Skin Expert will be able to hear you clearly. Keep a pair of headphones handy just in case the sound isn’t clear on either end of the call. Earphones or headphones will always make it a bit easier for you to hear the call.
Prep your skin!
One of the most important things we always mention is that you should remove any makeup you are wearing, if any, before your skincare consultation. This is so your Skin Expert can clearly see your skin via video link. It will really help them with their recommendations to you. You will also be able to clearly show them any skin conditions or concerns you have such as fine lines, wrinkles or acne for example. Give your skin a little cleanse before your appointment so you feel fresh and your skin is clean. If you wear makeup, don't worry about joiing the consultation without your concealer, foundation or eyeliner! Our Skin Experts are professionals, they have seen thousands of faces over the years and they will do everything they can to put you at ease.
Think about your surroundings
Have a think about where you will be when your consultation takes place. Is the room or area well lit, so we can analyse your skin? Is it quiet? Will you be comfortable enough there? It’s best to think about these things prior to your appointment, so you aren’t rushing around and flustered when the call begins. It should be something you enjoy, and we want you to get the absolute most out of your complimentary time with our skin experts.
During the consultation
What to talk about
Don’t worry too much about this. Our Skin Experts have been conducting these appointments for a long time, and all have experience in the right questions to ask to give you the best possible recommendations. However, if you have a skincare concern or a condition you would like to discuss in more detail, then let us know! If you mention all your symptoms to our skin expert or any specific concerns you have, we can tailor your skincare recommendations to best combat these for you.
How our Online Skincare Consultations are structured
Your chosen consultant will discuss your concerns with you (after a bit of chit-chat and introductions, of course!) and carry out a thorough skin assessment. They will then ask a bit about your medical history and current skincare routine and lifestyle to get a more complete picture of your skincare needs.
We then prescribe you a personalised treatment plan customised to your needs. If you like, we can discuss in-clinic treatments that would benefit your skin and also recommend at-home skincare products from our chosen cosmeceutical skincare ranges. We take your budget and free time into account to recommend the perfect plan for you.
After your consultation
You can choose your next steps either during your call or after you have had time to look into our product ranges a bit more. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase anything from us during or after your consultation so there really is nothing to lose with us; we really do love to help. If you do choose to purchase some skincare products with us, we will arrange payment with you and ship your new products directly to your door, free of charge.
Not only that, but we offer free review appointments. So if you have any concerns or anything else you would like to ask us, just book in!
What if I am unable to attend my online skincare consultation?
If you are unable to attend your consultation for any reason, please just let us know! There is no charge for cancelling your consultation with us and we won’t get offended. Simply pop us a message through any of our social media channels or directly on our website to cancel your consultation. You can rebook whenever you like. All we ask is that you try to give us as much notice as you can, if you can, so we can offer the appointment time to another of our clients.
