Is ZO Skin Health's Exfoliating Cleanser right for me?

Hannah Wilson

Why cleansing your skin is so important

The first step in your daily skincare routine is to cleanse. By cleansing the skin, you will remove the build-up of surface dirt, debris and oil. Throughout the day, the skin is exposed to bacteria, pollutants and oil build-up.  It is a key step to restoring your skin to regulate your pH, leading to a healthy fresh look.

ZO Skin Health have a range of cleansers that work effectively to remove makeup, bacteria and strip oil build-up without stripping moisture. ZO Skin Health has a cleanser for every skin type and concern.

In this blog post, we’re going to highlight ZO Exfoliating Cleanser; one of the most popular cleansers in their skincare range. You’ll discover what ZO Exfoliating Cleanser contains, who it’s designed for and how and when to use the product.

Product Spotlight: ZO Exfoliating Cleanser

 ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser

ZO Exfoliating Cleanser is a gentle, resurfacing daily cleanser to clean away debris, oil and make-up without stripping the skin or leaving it feeling tight and dry. It is the first and most important step. The core ingredients of this product are 2% Salicylic Acid and Vitamin E.

Salicylic acid has the ability to cleanse the skin by exfoliating deep

within the pore as well as on the surface. As this is the case, it is a key ingredient within acne products. It helps with decongesting the skin by removing the cells that can clog the pores which then lead to breakouts. This product contains both white and blue beads which dissolve in the warmth of your hands. The gentle blue beads release Vitamin E and antioxidants for protection throughout the day.  The white beads will complement a gentle exfoliation to the surface of the epidermis.

When do I use the Exfoliating Cleanser?

This product should be used first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. We advise cleansing the skin in the morning before any products are applied onto the complexion… meaning you are ready for the day!  You are allowing exfoliation on the skin and better penetration to the further products that you will apply afterwards.  Your make-up and base products will sit better your skin.

Skin Expert Tip: In the evening, We suggest double cleansing your skin, especially if you do wear make-up.  The first cleanse ensures all surface make-up has been removed, then your second cleanse will be able to get deeper into the pores to remove and control excess oil and debris.  Your skin restores itself when you are sleeping, hence why it is so important not to get into a habit of going to bed with your make-up on.

Who can use ZO Exfoliating Cleanser?

 ZO Skin Health cleansers

The Exfoliating Cleanser is an ideal partner for those who suffer from a normal to oily skin type.  If you are prone to congestion, clogged pores, breakouts, it will help to decongest the pores and offer you an added exfoliation.

Skin Expert Tip: I would not advise using this product if you suffer from dry skin e.g. eczema and psoriasis.  Or if you have an allergy to aspirin, please avoid this product as it contains salicylic acid. They belong in the same family of compounds. Why not get in touch with us to find out which cleanser is perfect for you? Email us at hello@myfacedr.com for professional advice.

How do I use ZO Exfoliating Cleanser?

As this product does go a long way over the face, only a small amount is needed. Massage the cleanser over the entire face for at least 60 seconds. Apply lukewarm water to prevent dragging on the skin.  Make sure to give the sides of your nose and your chin more focus too… not forgetting the eyebrows! Once cleansed, remove with water, repeat for a second cleanse if necessary.

This product can be used when you are in the shower cleansing your body and shampooing your hair. However, a tip is to use this product at the end of your shower.  Not only is your skin softer and more supple from the water, but you will ensure the removal of hair products that may have run down your face and neck whilst shampooing.  You may even want to remove the cleanser with a gentle muslin cloth or facecloth.

Make-up wipes can irritate the skin and have been shown to not clean the complexion effectively.  They move the oil and make-up around the complexion and do not give the pores a deep enough cleanse.  As this is the case, I recommend everyone to use a facial cleanser… even men!  Cleansing the skin takes no longer than wiping over the complexion with a wipe; it really is worth it.

How can I buy ZO Exfoliating Cleanser?

Cleansing the skin is a vital step if you are looking to achieve a clear complexion. ZO Exfoliating Cleanser is just one in a range of amazing products, each designed for a specific skin type and concern.
