The world of in-clinic skincare treatments can be a dizzying mix of complicated jargon, confusing formulas and over-promised results. Not to mention the occasional eye-watering price tag. Plus, when you’re looking to treat something as sensitive and personal as acne you want to know you’re making the right decisions. Fair to say it can all get a little overwhelming.
Here at Face Dr, we know all there is to know about in-clinic treatments for acne prone skin that we know do a great job. But that’s not to say each one is suited to everyone. To help you understand the treatments you should be booking, we want to break it down to the basics.
If you'd rather try at-home skincare before opting for more serious treatments, why not speak to a Face Dr Skin Expert for free? Book a consultation with us and we'll advise which skincare products work best for your skin concerns, saving you time and money on products that don't work and treatments you might not need.
Looking to find out more about treatments? In this article, we’ll run through the ins and outs of the services we offer that can help you treat acne and improve your overall skin health. By the end of this you’ll be on your way with all the info you need to make the right choice for your skin before you splash any cash.
#1 Déesse Pro LED Mask
Using low-level light therapy (LLLT) to stimulate and enhance cell function, the Déesse Pro LED Mask treatment is a safe, pain-free way to achieve a clear and vibrant complexion. Despite looking ever-so-slightly sci-fi, this futuristic light therapy mask uses wavelengths of light to rejuvenate skin and beat back bothersome skin conditions such as acne.
With several modes of light that all do different things, this mask is a true multi-tasker. From single wave red light which boosts collagen production to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, to single wave blue light that assists in killing all that acne-causing bacteria – this treatment promises a range of benefits for your skin.
At £40 per treatment session, this one definitely doesn’t break the bank and is worth a try on its own or even as an add-on to another facial.
It’s a perfectly safe treatment, but there are a few cases in which this mask should not be used, so it’s worth bearing the following in mind:
- Not suitable during pregnancy
- Do not use while being treated or in recovery from cancer
- Steer clear if you suffer from epilepsy or any hypersensitivity to light
#2 Prodigy Peels
There are two acne-friendly Prodigy Peels known as P3 Pro and P2. The aims, methods and active ingredients in these clinical acne treatments are pretty similar, but P2 is designed to treat moderate acne. On the other hand, P3 Pro packs a bit more of a punch and is therefore better for those who suffer with more severe/regular acne.
Both peels use an acne-busting, skin brightening combination of resorcinol, lactic acid, salicylic acid and citric acid coupled with a powerful booster. This booster contains an advanced form of salicylic acid which will leave you with better results than other superficial chemical peels.
If you’re unsure which Prodigy Peel is best suited to you, ask your local clinic for more information on whether this is suitable for you.
Both the P2 and P3 systems include a pre-peel consultation with a dermatologist. This is done in order to ascertain whether you’re making the right choice and to help you prep your skin for the peel. You’ll also have two post-peel review appointments (one 2-3 days after the treatment and the other in 4 weeks) to check you’re happy with your results and there are no adverse side effects.
This comes with a slightly higher price tag of £245 for the P2 system and £295 for the P3 system. It sounds a lot, but this includes all the prep and subsequent appointments as well as the hour-long peel treatment. You’re also likely to see results after just one treatment, so it’s definitely more of a one-off splurge rather than a regular expense.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that this is a chemical treatment that removes any lingering dead or damaged skin cells. As such, you may well experience some irritation, tightness and redness post-peel – but this is all perfectly normal. We’ll help you with any soothing product recommendations to help get your skin looking its best as soon as possible – it’s all part of the service.
#3 ZO Skin Health Acne and Oil Control Facial
If you’re looking for something a little less intense, why not try the ZO Skin Health Acne and Oil Control Facial? It cleanses deep within pores to remove any pimple-causing impurities and helps detoxify skin with a mixture of massaging and masking. This 50-minute treatment comes in at £85 and is jam-packed full of active ingredients to help fend off acne.
Your practitioner will cleanse, then exfoliate the skin to ensure all impurities are removed before applying a combination of AHAs and salicylic acid to tighten pores and minimise oil production. After that you’ll receive a detoxifying massage, followed by a bio-sulfur masque enhanced with antiseptic eucalyptus and kaolin.
This should help treat any existing acne. We then apply antioxidants, reparative enzyme treatments and a powerful sun protection to help protect against any acne scarring and hyperpigmentation.

Need more advice?
In order to pick the perfect treatment for your skin, you should get all the clinical advice and information you need ahead of time. It’s also worth bearing in mind the prices of treatments and what’s included in the plan. Speedy spa treatments will be cheaper, but something with a higher price tag will include more clinician time and give longer-lasting results.
Whether your acne is mild, moderate or severe, we offer a wide range of in-clinic treatments that can calm and soothe symptoms. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing facial to help balance oil production or a resurfacing peel, we’ve got the treatment for you.
We understand that acne can be a debilitating skin condition and, in some cases, really knock your confidence. However, we hope this article has shown that with the right skincare routine and treatments, you will see the results that make your acne nothing but distant memory.
