Learn more about ZO's Daily Sheer Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Vanessa Gibbs

We all know how important sunscreen is. Not only does it stop our skin from burning, but it protects it from those harmful UV rays that can cause everything from wrinkles to sagging, dark spots to discolouration. And it’s not just sunlight, blue light from our screens can also cause damage in the skin. This is why it’s so important to wear sunscreen every day. The first step is finding the best one for you and finding a brand you can trust.

One brand we recommend to clients time and time again is ZO Skin Health. Not only is this brand backed by industry experts and scientific research, it works—and we’ve seen the results first hand.

Here at Face Dr, our skin experts have decades of experience and have helped thousands of clients find the best products for them. When it comes to sunscreens, ZO has a range to choose from like the ZO Sunscreen + Primer SPF 30, ZO Smart Tone Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 and ZO Sunscreen + Powder SPF 30 in light, medium and deep. What is the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50?

The ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 is a great everyday option for sun protection. It’s non-greasy and quick-drying, so it’s not only comfortable on the skin, but it won’t leave a sticky film or shiny appearance. Instead, it has a sheer matte finish to leave your skin looking bright and dewy.

The sunscreen protects the skin from UVA, UVB, IR-A and HEV light. UVA and UVB light both come from the sun. UVA rays penetrate the skin deeper and cause most skin ageing. UVB rays, on the other hand, damage the outer layers of the skin and cause most skin cancers.

IR-A, or infrared rays, and HEV, or high-energy visible light, can also come from the sun, but we also get exposed to them through our electronic devices like phones and computer screens. They also cause premature ageing in the skin. We recommend ZO Skin Health sunscreens as they are some of the only suncream products on the market to protect your skin from IR-A and HEV light.

The sunscreen is sweat and water resistant, so you can swim and workout without worrying about your sun protection being compromised. It also features a blend of antioxidants to help protect the skin from damage, and glycerin to keep it moisturised and hydrated.

When do I use the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50?

Every day! We’re sure you’ve heard this advice from every skin expert out there, but wearing sunscreen everyday is needed to protect your skin. That includes overcast days and even inside—especially if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen.

The sunscreen should be the very last step in your skincare routine. So, once you’ve cleansed and applied any treatments and serums, apply the sunscreen. If you wear make-up, be sure to wait at least 10 minutes after applying your sunscreen before adding anything else. Not only does this allow the sunscreen to be properly absorbed into the skin, but it means your make-up will go on much smoother.

How do I use the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50?

Apply the product 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating. You should also reapply every two hours to get maximum protection. Simply apply a liberal amount over the skin.

Face Dr top tip: Don’t forget about your neck, chest and hands. These places get a lot of sun and can sometimes see even more sun damage than the face. They’re often the first place to show signs of ageing or hyperpigmentation, too.

Who can use the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50?

The ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 is suitable for all skin types. Because of its sheer and matte finish, it’s great for those who either worry about a shiny appearance when using sunscreen, or those who naturally have oilier looking skin. It’s also ideal for more active types, as it’s sweat and water resistant, and ideal for those who spend longer in the sun as it’s SPF 50.

If you wear make-up everyday and want the best finish, you could try the ZO Sunscreen + Primer SPF 30. Alternatively, if you’re looking for sunscreen with a bit of added colour in the formula already, you can try the ZO Smart Tone Broad-Spectrum SPF 50. The subtle tint adapts to your skin tone to even out your complexion, all while protecting the skin.

How much does the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 cost?

In the UK, ZO doesn’t allow its stockists to display product prices online. That’s because the products contain a high percentage of active ingredients. These concentrated actives not only make the products effective, they mean you’ll need expert advice on which products are best for you and how you should use them. As ZO’s products are more prescriptive like this, prices can’t be shared in the same way a traditional high street product can.

To find out more about ZO Skin Health’s pricing, you can create a Face Dr account to view them online. Or you can simply send us an email at hello@facedr.com for a price list.

How can I buy the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 in the UK?

You may have already noticed that ZO isn’t available in high street shops. But that’s actually a good thing. The brand's active ingredients—the ones that make it so effective—mean you’ll have to speak with an expert before purchasing them. This is to make sure you’re using the best products for your skin type and concerns and you know exactly how to use them correctly.

We offer free online skincare consultations where you can speak with a member of our team. They’ll analyse your skin and ask about your concerns and then be able to recommend whether the ZO Daily Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 is for you, or whether there’s a better ZO sunscreen out there instead.

Plus, if you have any other skincare questions—from how to build the perfect routine to which products to use for acne, hyperpigmentation or ageing—we’re on hand to help. Our aim is for you to leave our 30-minute video calls with all the knowledge—and products—you need to get your skin healthy and glowing. There’s never any obligation to buy, but if you do, we can send the products directly to your door.

If you’ve already used the sunscreen before, simply complete our reorder form to restock your cupboard. We also offer 10-minute review calls where you can ask any questions you may have.
